graduated from the Medical School of University of Pecs
in 1972, specialized in laboratory medicine and in neuroendocrinology. He is the
member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Until 2013, he was the chair of the
Institute of Laboratory Medicine and the senior vice rector of the University of Pecs
responsible for science and innovation. Later he became the founding president of
the Szentágothai Research Centre of the University. Dr. Kovacs is the past president
of the Doctoral Council of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the vice-president
of the Medical Section of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. His current scientific
interest lies in the innovative diagnostic biomarker research of human reproduction.
Currently he is the scientific leader of the National Laboratory on Human
Reproduction. His publications were cited over 6400 times in the international
scientific literature. Honoring his professional and scientific activities he received
numerous awards, including the Széchenyi Award.
