The use of AI in healthcare decision making - Powered by MSD

The AI revolution in healthcare decision-making – how can AI become a safe partner in medicine?

Artificial intelligence (AI) is fundamentally reshaping healthcare: it accelerates diagnoses, trains predictive models, analyzes data and makes recommendations in decisions that were previously reserved for human competence. However, the technology not only creates new opportunities, but also new responsibilities – for doctors, researchers, industry players and policymakers alike. The panel aims to explore how AI can support clinical decision-making, care organization and health policy strategies, thus preserving the human factor and the central role of professional responsibility. Participants will demonstrate the practical benefits of AI-based predictive models, the dilemmas related to algorithm transparency, and the ethical and data protection challenges through real-life examples. It is emphasized that without industrial partners, this development cannot be safe or sustainable. Companies developing healthcare innovations are not just providing technological solutions, they are also key players in the ecosystem that ensures the responsibility of AI. Collaboration between industry, science and government decision-making can create the framework in which AI can truly function as a reliable partner in healthcare. “The healthcare of the future is built on artificial intelligence that thinks not instead of humans, but together with humans” – this idea permeates the conversation, which raises not only technological but also social questions
