Dr. Fazekas Gábor 1984-ben végzett a Semmelweis Orvostudományi Egyetemen. 1984 és 2001. között a budapesti Szent István Kórházban dolgozott különböző beosztásokban, ezalatt neurológiából, reumatológiából és rehabilitációból szerzett szakképesítést. 2002-2017. között a budapesti Szent János Kórház Mozgásszervi Rehabilitációs Osztályának osztályvezető főorvosa volt, feladatai közé tartozott az osztály létrehozása is. 2017-től az Országos Orvosi Rehabilitációs Intézet Stroke utáni Rehabilitációs Osztályának osztályvezetője. Mindezzel párhuzamosan 2000. óta az Intézet Orvos-mérnöki Rehabilitációs Kutatási Programjának alapítója, majd vezetője. Korábban elnöke volt a European Forum for Research in Rehabilitation szervezetnek, jelenleg a Magyar Rehabilitációs Társaság elnöke. Elsődleges kutatási területe a rehabilitációs robotika, ezen a területen védte meg PhD disszertációját 2008-ban, majd habilitált 2018-ban.

Gabor Fazekas graduated in 1984 at the Semmelweis University of Medicine. He was working at the Szent Istvan Hospital in Budapest between 1984 and 2001, in different positions. During this time he became specialist in neurology, rheumatology and rehabilitation. He was head of the Department of Rehabilitation at Szent Janos Hospital in Budapest between 2002 and 2017. He was the founder of this department. He has been the head of the Department of Rehabilitation post Stroke at the National Institute for Medical Rehabilitation since 2017. Parallel with these positions in year 2000 he founded the Medical-engineering Research Programme of the Institute and he has been the leader of the programme since that time. Previously he was the president of the European Forum for Research in Rehabilitation, and now he is the president of the Hungarian Rehabilitation Society. His primary research field is robotics in rehabilitation. He defended his theses on this field and had his habilitation mainly on this topic.
