Anton Groom is the Associate Vice President of
Hyperautomation & Generative AI. In this role, he is
leading the mobilization of the company’s Generative AI
program and driving the automation of processes across
the enterprise. He is a member of the CTO Leadership
Team.
Anton began his career as a coder developing GPS
navigation systems for the US Army Corps of
Engineers. He subsequently worked in M&A consulting,
Professional services, and Data Center services before
moving into retail, joining Walmart where he held various
technology leadership positions. Most recently he led a
Digital Transformation team at Walmart delivering
automation and AI solutions transforming operations
across the business. Anton joined Merck in 2022.
Anton holds a Masters of Business Administration from
Colorado State University and a Bachelor’s degree in
Engineering from University of Natal in South Africa. He
is married and has two sons.
