Prof. Zoltán Járai, MD, FESC

He earned his general medical degree from Semmelweis University of Medicine in 1991. He subsequently held various positions at Szent Imre Hospital, the Medical School of Virginia Commonwealth University, and the 1st Department of Internal Medicine at Semmelweis University.
He currently serves as the Head Physician of the Cardiology Profile at the Szent Imre University Teaching Hospital, part of the South Buda Central Hospital. He is also Head of the Angiology Department Group within the Department of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy at the Városmajor Cardiovascular Clinic of Semmelweis University. He holds the title of Honorary University Professor and is a habilitated doctor of Semmelweis University.
His specialties include internal medicine, cardiology, angiology, and clinical pharmacology. He is also licensed in hypertonology, obesitology, and transthoracic echocardiography, and is a certified Clinical Hypertension Specialist by the European Society of Hypertension (ESH).
He has been a member of the Hungarian Hypertension Society since its foundation, serving as Secretary General from 2009 to 2017 and President from 2017 to 2025. He is the President-Elect of both the Hungarian Society of Cardiology and MOTESZ (Association of Hungarian Medical Societies). In addition, he is a board member of the Hungarian Society of Angiology and Vascular Surgery, a member of the European Society of Hypertension, and an ex officio member of the ESH Scientific Council since 2022.
