Dr. Dezső Miklós, PhD
Deputy Director, HUN-REN Alfréd Rényi Institute of Mathematics
Dr. Dezső Miklós is a Research Fellow and has been the Deputy Director of HUN-REN Alfréd Rényi Institute of Mathematics since 1996 and Academic Director of Budapest Semesters in Mathematics since 2000. He served as the founding Director of the Department of Mathematics of the Central European University. His main interest and research topic lies in extremal set theory and theory of databases, but during his tenure at the Rényi Institute he has built up the applications of mathematics section of the Institute as well. Earlier he was the founder of the Hungarian Society for Bioinformatics and an active researcher in the theory of databases, later participated in the development of the theory of network science research group. As the depuy the director of the Rényi Institute he initiated the founding of the Department of Artificial Intelligence and since that he oversees and organises the activities of the research groups of the Artificial Intelligence and Health Security National Laboratories at the Institute. In particular he is responsible for the application of the theories (artificial intelligence, data mining, network science) for the industries and public goods, including applying artificial intelligence in healthcare.
