dr. Helga Bíró, M.Jur. (Oxford), MBA

Dr. Helga Bíró joined Baker McKenzie’s Budapest office in 2002 and has been a Partner leading the office’s Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Practice Group since 2008. Prior to joining Baker McKenzie, Helga worked at the Legal Department of the Ministry of Health, where she gained significant experience in pharmaceutical regulation and legal harmonization.

As an expert in Baker McKenzie’s Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Group, Helga provides comprehensive legal support to multinational and domestic pharmaceutical and medical device companies. Her areas of expertise include clinical trials, licensing procedures, regulation of promotional activities, and the legal aspects of collaboration with healthcare professionals. She also has extensive experience in product distribution and pricing/reimbursement matters.

In her compliance work, Helga develops policies, conducts compliance audits, and delivers training sessions for employees of industry clients. She has significant expertise in drafting commercial agreements (including supply, distribution, and agency contracts) as well as advising on competition law and consumer protection issues. Her professional portfolio also includes active involvement in licensing projects for private healthcare providers and M&A transactions.

Helga graduated summa cum laude from the University of Miskolc with a law degree in 1999. She earned an MBA from École Supérieure de Commerce de Rouen and completed a postgraduate program in International Commercial Law at the University of Turin in 2001. In 2005, she obtained a Magister Juris (MJur) degree from the University of Oxford.

She regularly publishes on European and Hungarian pharmaceutical regulations and speaks at pharmaceutical industry conferences. Helga has taught pharmaceutical law courses at Mathias Corvinus Collegium and ELTE Bibó István College for Advanced Studies. She leads the Life Sciences Working Group of the Hungarian Corporate Compliance Society and is an active member of the Joint Venture Association and AmCham Healthcare Committee.
